Walter Moss: Visionary Founder, Inventor, Co-CEO
Walter Moss is the driving force behind Urbana Systems' innovative approach to urban revitalization. As Co-CEO, Founder, and Inventor, Walter leads the company's Imagineering, Strategy, Technology, Learning & Development, Product Innovation, and AI initiatives. His extensive career spans manufacturing, design, architecture, engineering, and more.
A serial entrepreneur and inventor, Walter has created several groundbreaking enterprises throughout his career, including Urbana Systems™, LabHabitat™, Urbana Data IQ™, among others. Notably, he is the inventor and owner of the proprietary SmartWalls™ technology, which he licenses for use in Urbana Systems projects. His genius also conceived a unique, optimized operational model for Urbana Systems, designed to efficiently manage the complex ecosystem of stakeholders involved in large-scale conversions – from vendors and developers to city officials and future homeowners. Furthermore, he has created an economic model designed to grow the middle class, revitalize economies, create future wealth and prosperity, improve health, and achieve much more through sustainable development and affordable ownership.
Over the last 40 years, Walter has also created, invented, and taught foundational design principles that underpin Urbana Systems' unique approach, including:
OrgaMechanics™:
Integrating organic system principles with mechanical design.
Human Oriented Design™:
Prioritizing human needs and experience over technology for its own sake (Gizmo Oriented Design).
MR2™ (Minimum Resources Maximum Results):
Achieving optimal outcomes with the least possible input.
OptimalModel™:
Designing for zero waste through cradle-to-cradle lifecycles, maximizing resource and energy efficiency.
Augmented Capabilities™:
Enhancing human potential through integrated systems.
Micro-server clusters for AI Specialized Language Models™:
Developed with Ted Heiman to power specialized AI applications.
(Among others)
These principles are embodied in technologies like SmartWalls™, which function as integrated, efficient, and human-oriented environmental systems licensed from Walter Moss. He authored the white paper "Rethinking Urban Revitalization: The Urbana Systems Economic Model as a Blueprint for Sustainable Private-Led Transformation," outlining a pragmatic, scalable roadmap for cities and investors. Walter champions a model focused on affordable homeownership and commercial inclusion, believing that true community resilience comes from empowering residents as stakeholders. His vision emphasizes speed, efficiency, and leveraging private systems, enabled by proactive government policies, to transform distressed properties into sustainable, self-sufficient neighborhoods. He advocates for a shift away from bureaucratic delays and towards execution-driven solutions that build wealth and opportunity from the ground up.
